Welcome to Behrends Family Homestead, a boutique collection of guesthouses on nearly 10-acres of historic farmland. With a contemporary farmhouse design, Behrends Family Homestead features four distinctive units, each complete with fireplaces, private courtyards, hot tubs and more. The property is surrounded by wineries and is a short 15-minute drive to Fredericksburg Main Street.

Behrends Family Homestead is an outstanding country retreat designed to accommodate larger groups. Situated on nearly 10-acres of farmland, the property offers four spacious and comfortable guesthouses with modern amenities and thoughtful design elements.
The Oswald
The four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom Oswald is the social hub for family dinners, game nights and movies by the fireplace. It features a full kitchen with name-brand appliances, including a stove, a full fridge, a microwave and dishwasher. The open floor plan of the kitchen and dining is designed to accommodate your group comfortably and allow for socializing. A farm table with stool seating and a round dining/game table with seating for eight makes this space ideal for bringing everyone together. In the kitchen pantry, find a top-of-the-line washer and dryer as well.
The completely renovated Oswald features four beautifully appointed bedrooms. Three feature a king-sized bed adorned with high-thread count linens. The fourth bedroom offers a queen-sized bed.
In addition to a spacious living room with a Queen sofa sleeper, a Roku TV, a fireplace and ample seating, the group will love gathering outside in the private courtyard. There, find a fire pit and plenty of seating. A covered outdoor party barn houses a hot tub, lounge seating, a dining table, a grill, corn hole and an additional TV with Roku. A convenient half bath is located steps away.
The Melvin, Judy and Cora
The Melvin, Judy and Cora are stunning one-bedroom units — and no two are alike. What they do have in common are king-sized beds with high-thread count linens, indoor fireplaces, TVs with Roku, full bathrooms with double vanities and private courtyards with hot tubs, outdoor showers and fire pits.
The Judy stands out with its full kitchen, bar seating and open floor plan. The Melvin and The Cora feature kitchenettes designed for functionality and convenience. They include a mini-fridge for storing the goodies you picked up from Main Street, a microwave for heating up meals and a coffee-maker for brewing your morning pick-me-up. Basic dinnerware, glassware and cutlery are provided for your convenience.

Behrends Family Homestead has a rich history that can trace its roots all the way back to the great wave of German immigration. In 1853, Christian H. Behrends was one of many who boarded a ship in Bremen, Germany, heading for the “promised land” right here in Texas. Each adult paid $120 for passage to Texas and a promise of 40 acres of farmland in return. This influx of settlers later became known as the great wave of German immigration, and its legacy is reflected today in Fredericksburg’s German heritage, customs, cuisine and culture.
Each guesthouse on Behrends Family Homestead is named after a family member who spent time cultivating the land and shaping it into what it is today.

A BURN BAN is currently in effect for Gillespie County, prohibiting all outdoor burning, including the use of firepits. Enacted January 3, 2025 for a period of 90 days.
