Welcome to Erna and Elgin’s Haus, a delightful and historic gem just off bustling Main Street. Passed down through generations, this cherished home beautifully preserves its original architecture, ambiance, and antiques, reflecting the rich German heritage of Fredericksburg. Offering both privacy and charm, the home features a stunning backyard—an ideal spot to relax with a glass of wine after a day of exploring the town.

The Erna and Elgin's Haus has a fully equipped kitchen, a formal dining room surrounded by multiple antiques, two spacious living areas, one of them providing you with a daybed, two spacious bedrooms with comfortable king-sized beds, and two bathrooms give plenty of room to enjoy a great stay and have a good rest! This beautiful home also provides you access to two bathrooms, one equipped with a gorgeous antique tub, perfect for a weekend of relaxation. You will love drinking a cup of coffee and watching the sun come up from the two front porch swings.

-No more than 5 occupants permitted
-No Events or Parties are allowed
-Pets are not allowed.
-Place trash in designated receptacles
-Observe City of Fredericksburg Quiet Hours - 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
-Parking instructions: Two off-street parking spaces are available. Illegally parked vehicles are subject to tow
-The City of Fredericksburg is a Dark Sky Community with outdoor lighting restrictions. All outdoor lighting is encouraged to be turned off when no one is present.

Easy Check-In Process
We use Happy Guest for a seamless, app-free check-in experience. Just complete your rental agreement, ID verification, and a simple refundable security hold of $1,000 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction) to receive your arrival instructions. If you'd prefer, you can opt for a Non-Refundable Damage Waiver instead, which provides coverage up to $1,500. The waiver is $53 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $1.50 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. It’s simple: finish these steps, and you’re all set to enjoy your stay! Note: arrival info won’t be sent without completing these steps, and refunds aren’t possible if skipped. Happy Guest is web-based and user-friendly, with all the info about the house and local spots. The interior pictures were very accurate. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were nice. The AC did a great job in the hot weather. We had some trouble getting adequate hot water for showers. The only other difficulty we had was that we never were able to get any of the 3 beautiful televisions to work. There were instructions left in the guest book, but the brands of the remote controls didn’t match the instructions.

We stayed in this house for a sister weekend in Fredericksburg. The location was good - it was walkable to Main St, however we weren’t comfortable walking it at night since it’s a little out of the way, so we took Uber’s, which were only $5-6 rides to restaurants and shopping so not bad at all. We did walk back to the house during the day and felt completely safe. The house itself is definitely old and has one tiny shower, but if that doesn’t bother you it’s a good place to stay. There was coffee and the basics we needed. It is right on the main road so can be a bit noisy and a sound machine helps. Overall a good place to stay for the price!

I thought that the cleaning fee was way too much for only one person staying there. I only used one bed and kept the house very clean. I think they should adjust the fee as needed.

My husband and I enjoyed our 11 days in this charming home while touring Hill Country. Located just off Main Street where shops and restaurants are located. It is located near a busy intersection and at times the traffic noise was quite noticeable. All in all an enjoyable trip and we would stay at this location again.

Great spot near main street. The home was clean, well stocked like a hotel with towels, soap and coffee. This is an older home so you could hear cars passing by 5 or 6 am. Would I recommend this home, absolutely.
